Today is my grandparents 53rd wedding anniversary. ❤️
They are both in pain. They were both supposed to die 4 and 1/2 years ago. But here they are today, on their wedding anniversary. In the picture you can see Grandpa does not even have the strength to open his eyes. Grandma is in an incredible amount of pain.
I have always, always looked up to my grandparents. My grandfather was a Structural Test Engineer for Marion Power Shovel and later Dresser Industries when the name changed. His job required him to travel all over the world to work on the drag lines. He would be up hundreds of feet in the air in intense heat or freezing cold. Now he barely has the strength to open his eyes and talk to us.
My grandmother had a really rough childhood. She grew up always having to defend herself. I think that’s what gave her such a strong personality. She always said my grandpa was the best thing that ever happened to her.
My grandfather sold his tractor to buy her an engagement ring. They were married and had three boys.
I know for sure my grandparents never would have guessed that their lives would end up like this. But here they are, still able to spend their 53rd wedding anniversary together. I’m sure there are widows and widowers who would love that same chance!
This is just a reminder to hold your loved ones tight. You never know when your life is about to change.
And Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa. I love you more than words can express! ❤️
