If babies clothes are so small, how come all of my laundry baskets are full?? Between blankets, spit up clothes, onesies, sheets, and your own clothes covered in spit up laundry adds up pretty quick!
If you hate doing laundry entirely, check out my other blog post called 5 Steps to Overcoming Your Least Favorite Chore!
I’ve gathered up some tricks that I found useful to keep up on all that laundry!
1. Do at least one load a day
That way it doesn’t get piled up and you have a whole bunch to do at once!
2. Have a backup of everything
For example, make sure you have at least two changing pad covers that way when one gets soiled you aren’t stressing about getting it washed as quickly as possible. But, it’s also VERY IMPORTANT you don’t have too many backups! If you do you will probably just let them pile up creating a whole ton more laundry.
3. Stain Treat Immediately
If you have a diaper blowout go ahead and immediately wash or at least stain treat it. The stain will most likely come completely out and it will save you hours later trying to get out stains! Shout stain remover is my go to and it always works wonders.
4. Wash everything together
Purchase a laundry soap that works for your laundry and your baby’s laundry! Also I gave up on sorting the colors long ago. Either wash on cold so the colors won’t run (if clothes are brand new I always wash a few times alone first before I add it to the mix) or add some of those color catchers to the wash. I have not tried these but I hear they work great!
5. Make folding easy
I looked up different ways to fold baby clothes and a lot of people spend way too much time folding! They don’t need rolled up or folded just like you would your own clothes. Trust me, pretty much as soon as you put it away it will end up back out again so don’t waste unnecessary time folding perfectly. Here is how I fold a onesie:
If it has sleeves I fold the sleeves back before folding in half.
I fold my spit up clothes like this:
